Well hello there!
I usually introduce myself as a "born again Jovi maniac". Let me explain...
I'm a 47 year old, married mother of two (mostly) wonderful kids. I was born in a city and country that are no longer on the map. Well, sort of LOL! When I was born it was called Leningrad, USSR and now it is St.Petersburg Russia My parents brought me to this wonderful country in 1982. So, at the tender age of 14, this homey and very sheltered girl entered the mad world know as a "Brooklyn Public High School"! It was an eye opening experience, to say the least... Besides having to learn a brand new language, I had to learn a completely new way of life! By the end of 1983, our (mostly Italian) high school was buzzing with a new song....drum roll please... "Runaway" it was all over NY airways...WAPP, WPLJ, Z100... Everybody loved it, and nobody knew who sang it!
Fast forward to 1986... I was sooooo into Bon Jovi that I even convinced my strict old world parents to allow me to put their poster on my closet door! (they had VERY hard time understanding how boys would allow to be photographed wearing make up and that kind of clothes...not mentioning that hair!!!) I had the 1st three albums on vinyl, and probably played them to death! In August 87 I went to my 1st Bon Jovi concert at MSG! I still have my "white gold" T shirt! Less then a year later I was married... (don't worry... my choice...and against my parents wishes! LOL! And we just celebrated our 27th anniversary!) As a young (19) newlywed, my priorities changed and my hub became the center of my universe ( so sorry boys)! And for the next 2 decades the posters came down and the T shirts got put away. I finished college, got my RN license and had 2 kids. I still enjoyed my music, but my taste diversified to include Opera, EuroPop, Russian music and classic rock.
Fast forward again to summer 2007. I'm living a reasonably comfortable life in a North New Jersey suburb, complete with a house (minus a white picket fence), 2 kids, hub, 2 cars, and a cat. Yep, your typical American Dream! Then one day, my nearly 14 year old daughter calls me into her room to listen to a new cool song she found on iTunes. Drum roll please.... yep you guessed it! "Living On A Prayer" comes thru the desk top speakers!!! LOL! A 1/2 an hour and a huge argument later, I'm digging thru my storage boxes and find my SWW LP and "white gold" Tshirt to prove that I listened to this song in High School!!! Then I jump on my laptop and *gasp* google Bon Jovi... About 2 months later (October 28th if you must know) I am sitting with my darling daughter in the 9th row stage left (I'm a Jonny girl still) at the Prudential Center in Newark! And mom has a religious experience! Yep, a Jovi fan is born again!!! A month later I discover FanFic (thank you Jillianne for that masterpiece!) and few weeks later I found Goddess (talk about another religious experience *fans herself*). Two more stops on the "Lost Highway" at Mohegan Sun and MSG and an unmentionable amount of $$$ spent on eBay follow.
Then comes October 1st, 2008. I take my family to the 1st preview of Toxic Avenger in NJ. I convince my family to stay after the show for the "meet and greet"... And after being physically and spiritually touched by David... a "curl girl" is born (so sorry Jon, but you are no longer my #1)!
One of the best things that came out of my new obsession ( or mid life crisis as my hub calls it) is that I got to meet so many wonderful women. Some I met in RL at the Fan Club concert( hey Alice Faye,Jerseygirl873, Willow, FicMiss and Tara), others on line and thru late night phone calls that help me keep my sanity (hey Sunstreaked and Tre, Mysovereign,Rike-my Eurovision watching pal). And Oh Yeah, thank you Goddess for your help with setting up my blog!
8 years and few tours later, I'm still here. I had many more amazing Jovi moments. Like being in the Pit, getting a "high-five" hand slap from Jon, meeting David AGAIN, and experiencing an "intimate show" with Richie at The Iridium. My love for Bon Jovi still going strong!
